People often ask me, “Where are you from?”

I’ve learned that the answer is never simple. I live in the diaspora, but my roots are in Uganda, so who am I, and where do I come from?

My story begins long before borders, passports, or migration—it begins with life itself. From the earliest cells that emerged in Africa, through the biological processes that shaped the human body, to the social and cultural environments of Northern Uganda.

This is an invitation to join me on a journey of discovery, tracing how biology, history, and environment come together to shape not only my identity and the identity of Luo peoples of Sub-Saharan Africa but also our place in the history of the world
